- Define Mesh Controls
  Use the Mesh Controls tools to define size controls, refinements, and boundary layer controls to be considered for surface and volume meshing.
  - Define Surface Mesh Size
    Use the Surface tool to define local mesh settings on selected surfaces.
  - Define Edge Mesh Size
    Use the Edge tool to define local mesh settings on selected edges.
  - Define Edge Layer Mesh Controls
    Use the Edge Layer tool to generate layers from selected edges during surface meshing.
  - Define Gap Based Refinement Criteria
    Use the Gap tool to define mesh refinement settings based on gaps between surfaces.
  - Define Angle Based Refinement Criteria

    Use the Zones tool to define mesh refinement settings by shape. These controls provide the capability to get mesh refinement on surfaces enclosed in defined boxes, spheres, and cylinders.

    Use the No Boundary Layer tool to define surfaces on which boundary layers should not be created nor imprinted.
  - Define Mesh Controls Using Groups
    Use the Advanced Create dialog in the Setup Browser to create mesh controls for selected entity groups.
  - Deactivate Mesh Controls
    Use the context menu on the legend to deactivate mesh controls. This excludes them from consideration when processing the solution.
- Create and Edit 2D Surface Mesh
  Create mesh on individual surfaces interactively and edit elements to fix issues or improve quality.
- Repair Surface Mesh
  Use the Repair tool to find, review, and fix issues in the mesh.
- Create Volume Mesh

Define Edge Layer Mesh Controls

Use the Edge Layer tool to generate layers from selected edges during surface meshing.

This tool has the following use cases:

Layer mesh on periodic source surface, so when source mesh is mapped to target, both have layers and 3D boundary layers are not collapsed.
Layer mesh on extrusion source surface, so when source mesh is extruded, layers are created in extrusion mesh.
Generate anisotropic/stretched mesh

From the Mesh ribbon, click the Edge Layer tool.

Select lines from which layers need be created.
Select a parent surface.
The parent surface decides which side of selected edges the layers are created.
Define layer parameters.
From the guide bar, execute the command in the following ways:
- Click to confirm your selection and remain in the tool.
  This allows you to continue creating instances and helps you visualize and edit instances with the legend.
- Click to confirm your selection and exit the tool.

Mesh layers are created based on the defined mesh controls.
