Split with Surfaces

Use the Split/Stitch tool to split surfaces and solids using surfaces.

Note: Splitting FE geometry surfaces with other FE geometry surfaces is supported; however, the extend trimmer option is not.
  1. From the Topology ribbon, click the Split/Stitch tool.

  2. From the guide bar, select Split.
  3. From the guide bar, select Surfaces or Solids.
  4. Select geometry.
  5. Optional: On the guide bar, click to define split options.
  6. On the guide bar, select Surfaces.
  7. In the modeling window, select the surface(s) used to split.
  8. Optional: Review the split sections.
    Restriction: Only available when splitting solids.
    1. Activate the Extend trimmer option.
    2. Click the Review button on the guide bar.
      The split sections are previewed, as shown below on the left. Deselect sections by holding Shift and left-clicking to cut the solid at only the desired locations, as shown below in the middle. The final result is shown on the right.

  9. On the guide bar, complete one of the following:
    • Click to apply and stay in the tool.
    • Click to apply and close the tool.
    • Click to exit the tool without applying.
