Create Generic Response
Generic responses can be created two ways, by specifying a solver result file containing the desired response or by specifying a session file containing desired response evaluations.
Restriction: Generic responses are not available for Generative Design
explorations.
- From the Design Explorer ribbon, click next to Responses and select Generic Response.
- In the Result File tab of the Create Generic Response dialog, enter a name in the Response Name field.

In the Result File field, click to browse for a result
file.
The dialog fields automatically populate based on the result file selection.
- Review and edit additional response options.
- Optional: Select the Objective or Constraint check box to create the corresponding goal when the response is created.
- Optional: Click Plot to view a preview of the response before creation.
- Click Create Response.
Create Generic Response from a Session File
Create a generic response from a session file.
Note: Where the responses are defined in a table client, the following format is used:
- Required entries
- Cell A1 must be labeled DE Responses
- Column A: response name
- Column B: response evaluation
- Optional entries
- Column C: objective (min/max) or constraint operator
- Column D: constraint value
- From the Design Explorer ribbon, click next to Responses and select Generic Response.
- In the Create Generic Response dialog, click the Session File tab.
- In the Session File field, click to browse for a session file.
- Select the desired responses and goals.
- Click Create Response.
