Bulk Data Entry Activates contact-friendly elements in Nonlinear Static/Transient Analysis (SMDISP/LGDISP).

Note: This is recommended when second order solids/gaskets are used with contact analysis in OptiStruct.

CONTFEL <YES, NO, or AUTO>

Contact-friendly elements are activated.
NO
Contact-friendly elements are not activated.
AUTO (Default)
Contact-friendly elements are activated for second-order Solid or Gasket elements in Node-to-Surface (N2S) contact.

Comments

  1. Contact-friendly elements are not required for S2S contact.
  2. This parameter cannot be specified in the input deck without a value. OptiStruct will error out in this case.
  3. In Explicit Dynamic Analysis, this parameter is always deactivated, irrespective of the value.
  4. Contact-friendly elements are only supported and activated in mechanical subcases. For example, they are not effective in heat transfer subcases or electrical subcases.
